  • Revelation 3:7-13
7. "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut. and what he shuts no one can open.
8. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
9. I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to e Jews though they are not, but are liars - I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.
10. Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
11. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
12. Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.
13. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

This is a letter from Jesus, sent by his messenger John, to the messenger of the church in Philadelphia. The letter begins, "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the true One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open," (Rev 3:7). Jesus is the one who is holy and true, and the key of David he holds symbolizes the wisdom to open and close the words of prophecy and their physical fulfillment.

The open door in Rev 3:8 is a door no one can shut if it is opened and no one can open if it is shut. This is the door of Jesus' heart (Refer to Jn 10:7-9, Mt 7:7-8). Therefore, by saying he has placed an open door in front of the messenger Jesus is saying he has made himself available to the messenger for open communication.

The hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world is the time of betrayal and destruction prophesied in Revelation. The people who will be tested "those who live on the earth(:10)" are the congregation members of the tabernacle of the seven golden lampstands which the Nicolaitans enter the tabernacle and attempt to deceive its congregation members.
In Revelation 3:11, "What you have" refers to the word the messenger received from Jesus, and the crown refers to his appointment.

This one  who overcomes will be a pillar in the temple of God in Revelation 3:12, the means making a pillar in the temple of God, will be given an important mission.

God's city, New Jerusalem, as described in Rev 4 and Rev 21, is God's kingdom in the spiritual world. This heavenly city is also referred to in Gal 4:26 as the "Jerusalem above".  Therefore, writing the name "New Jerusalem" on the one who overcomes means God's spiritual kingdom descends upon and remains with the one who overcomes. When the prophecies of Revelation are fulfilled, God's city New Jerusalem descends upon the one who fought and won the Nicolaitans. As a result, the location of the one who overcomes becomes heaven and New Jerusalem.

What is the new name of Jesus recorded on the one who overcomes(Rev 3:21)?

👇 Jesus' new name, in the bible 👇

There are many names for Jesus in the Bible. As an atoning sacrifice, he is referred to as the Lamb. As a savior, he is referred to as the Christ. As a teacher speaking on behalf of God, he is referred to as an advocate. In addition to these, he is also called Israel, the city of Jerusalem, Zion, the living stone, heaven, faithful and true, and the word.

Isaiah prophesied about Jesus saying God has given us a child and his name is "Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,"(Isa 9:6). Isaiah also promised he world be called by a "new name that the Lord himself will give, " (Isa 62:2). When the one Isaiah promised was born, however, he was given the name "Jesus", (Mt 1:18-21, 25). By this, we understand that "Jesus" was the new name of God.

Just as God, who referred to himself as Jehovah in the time of the Old Testament (Ex 3:25) went by a new name in the time of the New Testament, Jesus will also go by a new name of the new Israel, and the name of the one whom Jesus marries ㅡ the name of the one who overcomes (Rev 2:17, 28) Just as God's name became Jesus because God married Jesus (Hos 2:19, Jn 10:30), Jesus' new name is the name of his bride, the one who overcomes.
