They are still spreading the falsely broadcasted content of MBC PD Note MBC PD Note’s program regarding Shincheonji was clarified as false and biased by the prosecutors, police, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Korea. Survey shows rapid increase of positive feelings towards the church, and expectation on the volunteers is higher than ever
"After seeing it myself, Shincheonji church is nothing like what I had heard from people."
According to a survey conducted by the Shincheonji officials, it turned out that local residents that had negative feelings towards the Shincheonji church have drastically changed.
A doors open event was organized by the Shincheonji church to communicate openly with the people and to think about the region's development together. The event was conducted all through the twelve tribes of the church since the last July, and total of hundred people had participated in the survey regarding the visit. According to the survey, it turned out that local residents that had negative feelings towards the Shincheonji church have changed drastically.
Before the open doors event, the survey shows only 47 percent of the respondents had positive feelings towards the church, 34 percent answered they were neutral, and 19 percent answered they had negative feelings towards the church.
When the respondents were asked if they would revisit the church in the future, 73 percent of the locals answered they would, 24 percent remained 'neutral', and merely three percent answered 'they would not'. The result of the survey clearly shows the local residents' willingness to take part in the future events held by the church.
The respondents were also asked in which field of service the region they most require by the Shincheonji volunteers, 30 percent answered 'helping out the people in need', 23 percent 'providing cultural spaces', 15 percent 'beautification of the region', 13 percent 'medical services', and lastly 11 percent 'cleaning the environment'.
They were also questioned what kind of activities that the church could do to benefit the region, the requirement for regional communication spaces marked 35 percent which was the highest, unique volunteering works marked 33 percent, participating in artistic performances 25 percent, volunteer crime-prevention 6 percent, and other requirements marked 1 percent. Through the research, it became clear that local residents wanted the Shincheonji church to take charge of the regional communication field, and the need for unique volunteering suitable for the region and artistic performances is high.
The participants remarked the visit by saying"I can see that the number of the believers coming to the church is growing rapidly, and they all have a bright smile on their faces. I was able to learn that the Shincheonji church have been volunteering widely in all kinds of fields for a long time. I will actively participate in the church's future events in developing the region".

A few Christian media networks and pastors of certain denominations have been attacking Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, to a level of collective madness. Such attackers have been spreading irresponsible and unspeakable rumors though they claim to be the people of faith, even inciting murders of the members of Shincheonji.
October of 2007, a tragedy of murder took place caused by coercive conversion education. Instigated by a conversion pastor, Ms. Kim of Beolgyo, Jeonnam, was confined at a motel receiving a coercive conversion education until the police freed her.
But her husband, who led her to the conversion education suggested by the conversion pastor, continued to use physical and verbal violence against her. After the failed attempt at the coercive conversion education and their ultimate divorce, the husband ended up killing Ms. Kim with a blunt object by striking her five times.
Regarding this terrible murder, another pastor brought it up at a certain Christian Internet news column with puzzlement. The content of the posting, which discussed how the murder could not be justified, and the content of CBS’s programming are in the same context. How can it be justified to confine, press, ridicule, threaten, and use violence against a person for the reason of being a member of Shincheonji Church?
Shincheonji hereby strongly urges for an open debate to the public for the Korean Christian society to find its true role of religion and the believers, and to distinguish good and evil by determining which side (between Shincheonji and the Korean Christian society) is carrying on its correct life of faith based on the Bible.
A true believer should speak the truth of the Bible.
The repression of the truth by men’s authority and the use of money to avoid problems are certainly not the work of God’s holy spirit.

and Yong Shik Jin, Failing to Diversify Reporters
Defining a group as either a heretic or not has been dependent on media portrayal and a denomination’s claims, more so than on a fixed standard, such as the Bible.
Many are curious as to why major Christian media outlets such as Kukmin Ilbo and CBS No-Cut News are overly relying on two “cult researchers” and their assertions against the new religious denomination, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, “Shincheonji”. Both Kukmin Ilbo and CBS have been heavily basing their critical reports against Shincheonji on claims made by, Hyun Wook Shin, the Head Counselor of Korean Christian Cult Counseling Center in Guri, and Yong Shik Jin, the chairperson of Korean Christian Cult Counseling Committee. Especially in Kukmin Ilbo, interviews with Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin appeared in every critical report against Shincheonji that was published in the past several months, attracting the public’s attention. One justification may be that both men are knowledgeable of Shincheonji, but many are becoming wary of the one-sided assertions of few individuals who oppose that very denomination that they are reporting on through major Christian media outlets. The 13th Christian Media Forum held last March noted that “the debates on the heretical Korean churches focus on irrelevant topics that do not touch upon the essence of Christianity, further causing divisions and confusions within the church.
The so-called cult researchers’ arbitrary methods of determining a heresy are responsible for the majority of this confusion.” In regards to Yong Shik Jin and Hyun Wook Shin, a former member of Shincheonji, the forum claimed that “many of the self-proclaimed cult researchers are attacking their former denominations, acting as experts in the matters of determining heresies.”
In addition to such charges, it was also revealed that Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin failed to respond to the summons of the Committee on Countermeasures of Cults of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), which had previously determined Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin were heretics. The committee also concluded Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin had started many conflicts and disagreements in the Christian community. Moreover, Kukmin Ilbo and CBS have been protective of Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin since the CCK has been making charges against them. In the past, the two media companies have been supportive of the CCK’s dealings on heretical matters, until the CCK began to make charges against Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin. The two media companies are now criticizing the CCK instead. Defining a group as either a heretic or not has been dependent on media portrayal and a denomination’s claims, more so than on a fixed standard, such as the Bible. Many are also skeptical of Mr. Shin and Mr. Jin’s past, raising doubts on the accuracy of the reports from the major Christian media outlets. While serving as a high-level official in Shincheonji, Hyun Wook Shin once claimed that one must “eat the flesh and blood of Chairman of Shincheonji instead of the flesh and blood of Jesus” to be saved, a statement that led him to be expelled from the denomination. Depositing the church offering into his personal bank account and spending for own gain was another factor that led to his expulsion. The Supreme Court found Yong Shik Jin guilty for abetting coercive kidnappings while conducting coercive conversion education in 2008. The Supreme Court also acknowledged that Mr. Jin received monetary funds for the coercive conversion sessions from the victims’ families. An investigation of his bank account revealed that Mr. Jin amassed over a billion Korean Won through various conversion education business, heightening public awareness of the conversion education’s motives for business and profit. In the midst of such reality, the public skepticism are growing against the major Christian media outlets, such as Kukmin Ilbo and CBS, for solely relying on Mr. Jin and Mr. Shin’s claims as their only source. Their consistent and repeated use of the same source are raising many questions of the neutrality and fairness of their reports, and whether they are protecting the benefit of other established churches that are attempting to thwart the rapid growth of Shincheonji.

People said, "this restaurant owner blessed." and gave praise to him.
The mountain climbers who a penetarating gaze and it stopped participated in our activity.
Moreover, the restaurant staff also helped our work with rolling up their sleeves. One of the mountain climber said, "I usually passed by this way, the dark wall vanished into thin air.
So I felt I came to somewhere else because beautiful picture unfolded before my eyes." and he was struck with admiration.
The other mountain climber said, "I can't believe how don't receive money and do it, how come?" and he surprised. We were very tired because of lifting some heavy luggage and picture material but we felt that refreshed from fatigue.
Because many mountain climber praised us and they said, "get better the wall day by day".
We felt a sense of satisfaction for casting light in people's mind by drawing.
Other people bought fruit for us and gave snack to us with watching our activity.
The bashful sunflowers and the many color of the butterfly appeared on the wall painting.
The view of the wall painting which is the fruit of the voluntary's work was touching more than the accomplishment which is looking down the top of a mountain. We hope that the mountain climbers who climb a mountain behind repeating everyday life take a break in front of the wall painting for a while and feel at ease with forgetting their cares and worries by the wonderful nature.

We started sketching like spreading a drawing paper before painting. Like "Many hands make light work", we didn't unaware of the passage of time and we didn't find working hard at all because we worked together.
We were happy with talking about this and that during the painting wall.
We concentrated on painting wall like doing a cross-stitch and It made us mind alert.
We used not to be good at drawing but we grasp a paint brush and we believe that we delight many people by the completed paint wall.

Even though other religions or other people have a prejudiced opinion about them, they sill come and work with smiling faces and do their best, and I think that is very fortunate.
Sometimes I wonder why they have to hear bad rumors.
But because of the kind and gentle volunteer director, who works hard with a bright smile, we have nothing else to ask for.

In the past year, I worked at the Shincheonji church in Gunsan as a volunteer, helping with distributing free meals at the soup kitchen. I am thankful that we can proclaim the kingdom of God by volunteering and that we are able to work with a healthy body.

I am Soon Young Sean, a soup kitchen dietitian operation in the Gunsan area where I have received a commission from Gundan Won Buddhism.
Is there a reason why you think that the Shincheonji church volunteers are special?
There are about 70 volunteering organizations taking turns serving. Among them, the Shincheonji church's turn is the first Sunday of every month.
During situations when other volunteer organizations cannot work during their turn, Shincheonji church is the first one we send an SOS to for help. They work invisibly, and they do a very good job so I'm always thankful for their efforts. They complete their entrusted work perfectly without being told. They illustrate being a "volunteer organization that is above the rest". When we hear about the church of Shincheonji, as many already know, it is slightly different than the other churches. At first, I had a prejudice about the church, but as I continued to work and watch them volunteer for ever a year, my opinion changed to 'Oh, Shincheonji church is really reliable and good religion.' They come and help whenever I request for help, and they are people that I am grateful towards.
